The objective of this research is to evaluate the environmental variables, bioclimatic indices and water temperature in six installations for raising quails in an alternative system in the Brazilian semi-arid region, using ceramic tiles (TC), fiber cement (TF) to cover the installations. , white painted ceramic (TCPB), white painted fiber cement (TFPB), geotint ceramic (TCPG) and geopaint fiber cement (TFPG), each installation measuring an average of 9 m2, surrounded with painter's canvas and 3 m2 of covered area. The climatic variables had a significant effect for the type of roof as well as for the times of day (P<0.05), considering the interaction between roof type and times of day only the internal water temperature variables (P=0.0040) and internal wind speed (P=0.0408) had a significant effect. The internal CTR did not present a significant difference (P=0.9877) depending on the roofs, while the external CTR presented a significant difference (P<.0001) between the studied times. All indices showed a significant difference depending on the type of coverage, with the exception of internal and external effectiveness. The upper and lower gradients showed a significant difference depending on the type of coverage and the hours, as well as the hourly coverage interaction (P<.0001). The alternative system for quail with ceramic tiles painted on the external face in white and with geopaint are a good alternative to reduce the internal temperature in the sheds.
