Abstract:
Parasitic infections are among the major causes of economic losses in cattle in the
world, with emphasis on the gastrointestinal helminthiasis, diseases that cause
production losses because of morbidity, mortality , costs of prophylaxis and / or
treatment and decreased productivity in interaction with stress nutritional ,
environmental , management and other health aspects. The intensive use of
anthelmintics , underdosing , and misdiagnosis and lack of turnover pharmacological
bases have caused a serious health problem , which is the resistance of nematodes to
drugs . This study aimed to evaluate the sensitivity of gastrointestinal nematodes of
cattle to anthelmintics in Lavras da Mangabeira, Ceara. Given the enormous resistance
found in different wormers, this assessment has enormous economic importancia both
for producers and for the health of animals. The sensitivity to anthelmintics was
evaluated by testing the reduction of eggs per gram of feces made in the Laboratory of
Parasitic Diseases of Domestic Animals (LPD) of the Academic Unit of Veterinary
Medicine (UAMV) Health Center and Rural Technology (CSTR), University Federal de
Campina Grande (UFCG). The results showed that there was resistance to
gastrointestinal helminths of cattle anthelmintics (levamisole and tetramisole) after the
14th day after treatment. For the period of the day was the afternoon shift that occurred
largest egg retrieval.
