Abstract:
The search for fundamental rights provides the quality of life and social welfare for the citizen. This exercise should be put into practice by the public power. However, in many situations this does not happen, sometimes due to lack of financial transfer, neglect of the current management, or even by the distance between management and the population. Thus, social, economic and environmental inequality and vulnerability are promoted. From this, the question arises of how this scenario can be modified, of how the administrative sectors can contemplate the demands and the population's wishes, of how the government can be reflex of its locality. In this sense, Sustainable Development arises, which in its conception seeks to reconcile the economic and environmental sectors in an equitable way, and also, prioritizing social demands. Along with the principles of Sustainable Development, the Municipal Sustainable Development Indicators Systems, which act as a tool for evaluation and monitoring of the administrative situation and the reality of the municipality, are presented. It was in this sense that the work was constructed, starting from the elaboration of an ideal system, that represents the specificities of Health in the Municipality of São Bento - Paraíba, having as final product a System of Indicators of Municipal Sustainable Development in the Health area (IDSM_SAÚDE). And with this it is expected that the promotion of discussions will give subsidies for the elaboration of actions, plans and public policies that guarantee one of the primordial rights to the citizen, that is Health.
