Résumé:
Bisphosphonates are a category of drugs in the last thirty years for the use of various
diseases of the metabolism of bones, teeth and calcium. Despite the effects of
medication, adverse effects were found. The most relevant adverse effect for
dentistry is osteonecrosis of the jaws. This is explained in the series of midrange
insidential, in the tummed as maximal blood, in the jaws of the large tuminalization
and large metabolic cellular activity; The presence of dental organs and recurrent
remodeling of the periodontal ligament. Due to the evidence of osteoporosis of the
jaws by the chronic use of antibodies, the CTX examination may help by showing at
serum levels the chance of patients using bisphosphonates to develop osteonecrosis
of the jaw.A review of articles using the online search database: Scielo, Lilacs,
Bireme and Pubmed. As the searches were used as key words: osteonecrosis,
mandible and diphosphonates and limit to the period from 2001 to 2017. The
confirmation of osteoporosis of the jaws by the chronic use of bisphosphonates, the
CTX exami was gaining support by being able to demonstrate in serum levels the
possibility of patients who use bisphosphonates develop osteonecrosis of the jaw.
The adequacy of the oral environment and oral surgeries before initiating drug
therapy with BFs may prevent the onset of osteonecrosis and the CTX exam is not
able to predict the development of osteonecrosis but is a helper to predict the risks
that procedures can cause in the patients.
