Resumo:
The anterior crossbite, defined as the inverted occlusal relationship of anterior teeth,
although is not the most prevalent malocclusion, requires special care due to its
strong aesthetic and functional impairment. In addition, it is not amenable to selfcorrection
requiring early treatment soon after its diagnosis. Treatment in the deciduous
dentition may make it difficult for us to resolve, avoiding more invasive planning
in adulthood such as dental extractions and orthognathic surgeries. The present
study has the purpose of relating a clinical case of a patient of a 3-year-and-threemonth-
old presenting a diagnosis of anterior dental crossover, brought by the parents
to the Children's Dentistry Clinic of the Federal University of Campina Grande-PB
(UFCG) due to unfavorable facial aesthetics. The treatment was performed in two
stages. The first is by means of an encapsulated apparatus made of acrylic resin with
frontal expansion and cut-out between elements 52 to 62 and, later, the use of a
Fixed Inclined Plane. Correction of the anterior dental junction demonstrated the effectiveness
of the methods used.
