Abstract:
Patients have increasingly required aesthetic dentistry to solve cases of disharmony in
the smile, such as changes in color, shape and size. With the advancement of dental
materials and improvement of the technique it is possible to treat aesthetic cases with
minimal dental wear and have excellent results. It is up to the dentist to choose a
treatment that returns health and function beyond esthetics. Patient female F.G.B.B.
of 22 years presented in the clinic wanting to improve the aesthetics of the smile. The
clinical case reported here had as main objective the reanatomization of the smile, as
well as to show that it is possible to achieve clinical success using a cheaper material,
the composite resin was the material of choice. This material was chosen because it
is more financially feasible in relation to the ceramics, has simpler execution, requires
little or no wear and is also reversible. The technique used was the direct restorative
treatment: facets; preoperative steps such as tooth whitening, diagnostic waxing and
periodontal surgery were necessary to achieve a clinical crown increase. It was
fundamental the interdisciplinary work and the collaboration of the patient, being
possible, through a good planning of the case, adequate execution of the technique
and control and periodic maintenance, to provide the patient with aesthetic dentistry
within the standards so valued these days and, consequently, increase of her selfesteem
and improvement in her interpersonal relationships. The technique used was
effective to reestablish the function and aesthetics of the upper anterior teeth with
clinical efficiency and simplicity.
