Resumo:
Interceptive treatment of anterior open bite: case report. The anterior open bite is a malocclusion defined by a negative vertical overlap between the opposing teeth, which may occur in both the anterior and posterior regions or, more rarely, in the entire dental arch if the lack of contact between the teeth is located in the region of incisors and / or canines when the occlusion is in centric relation, this one happens to be denominated of previous open bite and within the scope of this definition it is verified from those that it covers simply the dentoalveolar structures as well as those with skeletal alterations severe, compromising esthetics both at rest and in function when speech, swallowing, chewing and even social behavior of the individuals affected by it are considered. This study aimed to describe a clinical case of orthodontic treatment with the use of a hawley plate associated with the palatine grille in order to remove the habit and to lingualize the anterior superior elements.
