Resumen:
The interaction between dentistry disciplines has been becoming progressively common
in the resolution of cases with esthetic and functional involvement. The aim of the present study
is to report a clinical case of smile makeover through periodontal surgery and composite resin
veneers. The 25-year-old patient reported dissatisfaction with the esthetics of her smile, due to
excessive gingival exposure and presence of interdental spacing. Previously to the treatment, a
digital planning was done, which directed how much should be removed from gingival tissue
and how much should be added of composite resin, giving a greater predictability of the final
result. Then, a diagnostic wax up was done, which helped in guided preparation and in the
composite resin restorations. The surgical procedure chosen was gingivectomy with internal
bevel incision and osteotomy, which aimed to reduce the patient's gingival exposure zone when
smiling. After complete repair of the periodontal tissue, the composite resin veneers were done
with help of the diagnostic wax up as a guide. The result was satisfactory with reduction of
gummy smile and reanatomization of the dental elements with composite resin. It can be
concluded that dentistry interdisciplinarity has.a significant relevance in the harmonic-function
of smile restabilization.
