Resumo:
Class III, although not the most frequent of the types of malocclusion, needs special attention
due to the strong aesthetic compromise that it causes. The anterior crossbite is one of the
characteristics of this disease and because it is not susceptible to autocorrection it needs early
treatment that should be instituted promptly after its diagnosis. Treatment in the deciduous
dentition prevents malocclusion from occurring in mixed and permanent dentitions and makes
its resolution less complex, avoiding more complex and aggressive treatments such as dental
extractions and orthognathic surgery. The present study reported the clinical case of a patient
at 03 years and 04 months, with skeletal class III malocclusion, with anterior crossbite, presented
at the Child Clinic of the Federal University of Campina Grande - PB, with aesthetic
repercussions signaled by their parents. The treatment was carried out through an encapsulated
acrylic resin apparatus with frontal expansion and posterior containment using the progenic
apparatus. The success of the treatment demonstrates the effectiveness of the methods used.
