The guidelines of the Ministry of Health definy that the hiring of the Family Health
Team must be preceded by a public selection process. The Pediatric Dentistry
represents an area of extreme importance for the dynamics of care in Primary Care
since the professionals licensed to the position of dental surgeon will give priority
attention to this group. This study aimed to verify the content of pediatric dentistry
addressed in public examinations in State of Paraíba through the analysis and
classification of questions. Questions were extracted that dealt with the subjects of
the Pediatric Dentistry area of available and finished events, from all cities in the
Paraíba to the position of dentist of the Family Health Program between 2001 and
2017. Of all the 107 cases were collected and in applying the exclusion criteria, 9
identical tests were removed, totaling 98. After analyzing these, 3949 questions were
obtained and of these only 54; 1.36% of the total, related to pediatric dentistry. The
questions were classified according to the generic topic they were dealing with and
the cognitive level they required according to BLOOM's Revised Taxonomy. The
results showed that the topic of oral rehabilitation and surgical management, which
included questions that included the contents of anesthesia, surgery, pulp therapy,
endodontic treatment, operative and restorative dentistry, dental materials, traumatic
injuries and prosthetics / higher prevalence corresponding to 42% of the questions
and the most prevalent cognitive dimensions were to remember and to analyze that
corresponded to 45% and 29%, respectively. It was possible to conclude that issues
related to oral rehabilitation and surgical management were the most discussed in
public examinations in the context of Pediatric Dentistry and that the dimensions to
remember and to analyze were the ones with the highest prevalence. There were no
issues that required more complex cognitive dimensions, such as assessing and
creating.
