Résumé:
This study aimed to evaluate the oximetry and blood pressure of patients followed in
UFCG Dentistry assessing whether the oxygen saturation in the blood of patients
was consistent with the normal values and identifying the values of blood pressure. Is
a cross-sectional survey with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of a
population of 100 patients waiting to be treated at the clinic for data collection used a
manual blood pressure apparatus and a digital pulse oximeter. On blood pressure,
according to the parameters established by the Brazilian Society of Hypertension and
the Health Ministry, most of the sample, (42%) had blood pressure levels considered
optimal <120 <80 mmHg, 10% hypertension stage I, 140 -59 90-99 mmHg, and 1%
of the sample was framed in stage II hypertension classification 160-179 100-109
mmHg. The values for oxygen saturation were mostly considered within the standard,
O2 saturation above 95%, both for male participants and for females. A participant in
the entire sample presented the O2 saturation value of 91%. Proportionately, it
concluded that there were changes in blood pressure values and the sample oxygen
saturation, and emphasize the importance of integrated dental care with systemic
health of the patient.
