Resumo:
In the view of the close relationship between periodontics and prosthodontics, the
research proposed here aims to evaluate the periodontal condition of the unit fixed partial
denture users the dental clinic of the Federal University of Campina Grande. The study
population was composed of patients rehabilitated with unit fixed partial denture, from 2012,
the UFCG's dental clinic. The data collected in the clinical examination were plaque index,
gingival index, probing depth and radiographic examination. The information was recorded in
Excel and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Of the examined patients, prosthodontics
failure was observed in four; thirteen patients underwent clinical examination. There was
obtained a total of fifteen unit fixed denture, all of the metal-ceramic type; on simplified
periodontal index 61.5% of patients had periodontal condition 2, indicating the presence of
calculus without periodontal pockets, in periodontal of depth the abutment tooth the highest
values were found in the proximal faces, in radiographic findings only one patient had bone
resorption. It concludes that despite all patients presented gingival inflammation, the
prosthesis were satisfactory.
