Resumo:
This work proposes a comparative study of the mixtures of soil-cement,
soil-cement-lime and soil-cement-lime pozzolana with the objective to make bricks at
manual press for to be used at houses of low costs. The percentage of cement is
replaced by lime ande lime pozzolana cement at several proportions in order to verify
the mechanical performance of these mixtures.
The two soils were selected from soils commonly used at local
engineering works. The results of the tests with theses mixtures show a improvement
of the properties after addition of lime and lime pozzolana cement mainly the simple
compression resistence of the bricks that exhibits a increase significant when are
compared with those obtained at cylindrical samples.
It was realized a statistical study through simple linear regression
between the time (t), obtained from PUNDIT ultrasonic apparatus and simple
compression resistence of the cylindrical samples and was attained high level of
correlation.
It was observed that the use of the lime and pozzolana lime cement in
partial substitution of Portland cement improve beyond the simple compression
resistence the external surface of the bricks given a better appearance.
The results permit to conclude that is possible the substitution of part of
the Portland cement by lime and lime pozzolana cement and to make bricks of very
good quality at lower price.
