Resumen:
The sanitation services are being disseminated and deployed at the over the years all over Brazil, However, however, deficits are still recorded in the access of the populations inserted in both urban and rural areas, and in this second the reality is even more worrying. Therefore, this study aims to diagnose basic sanitation services in the rural community of VárzeaComprida dos Oliveiras, in Pombal - PB, relating its influence on the environment and the health of the local population, as well as to propose alternative measures in view of the improvement of the region. For this, the methodology consisted of using Geoprocessing to locate the study area and on-site visits for its characterization, to diagnose the sanitation services and incidence of diseases in the local population through interviews and, finally, to propose non-structural interventions, for means of lectures, and structural, for an appropriate destination of sewage and solid waste, these being easy to implement, low cost and in accordance with the local reality. As a result, it was seen that the implantation of a septic tank in brick masonry could be employed, but that a system mounted with alternative material and of easy implantation fits better the reality of the study area. For the solid waste management, it was considered feasible to separate the liabilities from the use of the composting technique using the domestic composting technique, being these compact and also mounted with alternative material. For the diagnosis of sanitation as well as the incidence of diseases in the population of the region, it was found that the relationship with the absence of basic services and the occurrence of some diseases, which are part of the community health history over the last ten years.
