Resumen:
The dental ceramics have been highlighting as a treatment of choice in
aesthetic and functional rehabilitation in clinical practice; this is justified by the intrinsic
characteristics of the material, which in addition to providing aesthetic, supports a
conservative preparation and disposal of clinical longevity. Special features as
biocompatibility, aesthetic, translucency, durability and optical properties and a excellent
resistance make this mode restored an alternative for those who want to undergo minimally
invasive procedures with high rate of success and predictability. But these depend on several
elements to achieve elements to achieve success as desired. Among them, the choice of case,
the characteristics of the material of selected, the type of preparation chosen, treating the tooth
surface and laminate, the cementing agent and final adjustment are indispensable and strongly
influence the result. OBJECTIVES: Identifying the factors that support for the failure of this
rehabilitative technique, through a literature review, based on books, journals and articles,
selected carefully, in the period 2000-2015. CONCLUSION: The planning is essential in
any area that we pursue success and longevity, raised to this, in the case of ceramic laminates,
study the specific characteristics of each patient helps to guide which have material, the ideal
technique of conditioning, the use or not of preparations for tooth and the cementing agent to
be used, thus increasing the chances of meeting the expectations of the patient and
professional.
