Resumo:
Ceramic veneers are a great aesthetic option for rehabilitation of anterior teeth, due to its
excellent optical properties, color stability, biocompatibility, durability and resistance. In
clinical practice stand out because they provide more conservative and with minimum wear of
the dental structures procedures. New ceramic systems with improved mechanical properties
has been introduced in the market, among them that contains particles of lithium disilicate.
Ceramics are clinically attractive in terms of its aesthetics, biocompatibility, physical and
mechanical properties appropriate. Their optical properties combined with the natural
characteristics give it the ability to be the esthetic material that is most similar to tooth structure,
showing good long-term success rate. Therefore, this study aimed to present a review of the
literature on aesthetic and functional rehabilitation of the foregoing, describing the technology
used in the manufacture of veneers, making protocol of conventional tillage, forming and
cementing of ceramic reinforced with facets lithium disilicate, seeking treatment success and
patient satisfaction. Through this study it can be concluded that lithium disilicate plays a crucial
role as regards the aesthetics, function and biocompatibility with the gum tissue, showing that
the veneers has the capability of correcting changes shape, color and texture, and pointing out
that proper planning coupled with technical and skilled professionals allow the appreciation of
the individual, promoting their well-being associated with health, hygiene, education,
cheerfulness and professional prestige leading to improved self-esteem.
