Resumen:
Tooth avulsion is characterized by the complete displacement of the tooth and its
socket noteworthy for the lack of preparation of both the population and because of high
incidence in sports accidents. Physical Education teachers occupy a privileged position in
assistance for the victims, as they often are responsible for the first care given. This study
aims to evaluate the Physical Educators' knowledge of the city of Patos – Paraíba, front tooth
avulsion. This is an observational study, quantitative and analytical, which was conducted
with physical education teachers of municipal schools and the academies instructors in the
municipality. For data analysis was used descriptive statistics and bivariate inferential (chisquare
test or Fisher's exact test). It was found higher prevalence of male (80.8%) among
physical education professional, the majority (76.9%) had no experience with dental trauma
and 86.5% could not define the term dental avulsion. When asked which conduct against a
hypothetical case of avulsion, 51.9% said they would wash and keep the tooth and seek help
and only 1.9% would wash the tooth and put back in its place on the mouth. When asked if
they were redeploying the avulsed tooth, 69.2% would not reimplantation. Conclude that the
physical education professional of Patos – Paraíba demonstrated insufficient knowledge of
emergency procedures to be performed in cases of dental avulsion, as well as the necessary
pipes in cases of dental replantation.
