Resumo:
The facial appearance is a factor that plays a significant role and influences acceptance of own
image and self-esteem. The Contemporary dentistry has as main objectives the maintenance
and preservation of the teeth in the oral cavity, so that the care of the mouth health is
necessary as a whole. In cases of damage to periodontal, periodontal surgery includes several
surgical techniques with the aim of seeking gingival function associated with aesthetic
conditions within normal limits. The purpose of this report was to demonstrate the reliability
of the subepithelial connective tissue graft technique in the treatment of defects in the alveolar
ridge. The patient complained of aesthetic dissatisfaction because of a depression in the
alveolar ridge in the anterior-superior region noticeable in the act of smiling and talking, and
aesthetic dissatisfaction with her prosthesis. Clinically, we found out the presence of a defect
in the alveolar region of the teeth 12, 11, 21 and 22 with horizontal and vertical concomitant
loss. Subepithelial connective tissue graft surgery was performed in the regions of the teeth 21
and 22 for regularization of the alveolar ridge. In conclusion, we have satisfatory gain in
thickness and volume of grafting region, so we have a successful technique and patient
satisfaction.
