Resumo:
Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of oral health conditions on quality of life
and associated factors among schoolchildren in 12 years in Patos, Paraíba, Brazil. Materials
and Methods: This is cross-sectional study with a probabilistic sample of 102 children
randomly selected in municipal schools in Patos, Paraíba, Brazil. The dependent variable was
related quality of life for Oral Health (QVRSB) through the Child Perceptions Questionnaire
(CPQ11-14) short version - ISF (Impact Short Forms): 16 and the independent variables were
related to sociodemographic characteristics, preventive and clinical aspects in oral health.
Descriptive statistics and bivariate analyzes of the data were used. Results: The mean score
for CPQ11-14 study sample was 25. The demographic variables and prevention in oral health
were not associated in a statistically significant way with the average score of CPQ11-14.
Among the subjective variables, the pain of dental origin was strongly associated with the
mean score of the CPQ11-14, as well as the Domain Functional Limitation (DFL). The need
for self-reported dental treatment was associated with the Domain Symptoms Oral (DSO) and
Domain Functional Limitation (DLF) of CPQ11-14. Among the normative conditions, just
malocclusions were associated to the Domain Wellness Emotional the CPQ11-14.
Conclusion: Regulatory conditions hardly influenced the QVRSB, on the other hand, the
subjective conditions were shown to be strong predictors of the impact of oral health
conditions on quality of life of the children.
