Resumo:
This study had focused testing the null hypothesis that there is no difference the
between biocompatibility orthodontic cement's modified by cetylpyridinium chloride
(CPC) in different concentrations. Were used 60 male Wistar rats, randomly divided
into 5 groups (n = 12), as follows: Group C (control, polyethylene pipe), PR Group
(Cement conventional glass ionomer, Precedent) and Groups PC1, PC2 and PC3
(Precedent modified with 1%, 2% and 3% CPC, respectively). The animals were
sacrificed after 7, 15 and 30 days and the tissues analyzed by optic microscopy,
about the events the inflammatory infiltrate, edema, necrosis, granulation tissue,
giant cells, young fibroblasts and collagen fibers. The results were analyzed by
Kruskal-Wallis test and Dunn (p <0.05). Intense inflammatory infiltrate was shown in
PC3 group, with significant difference between groups control and PC3 in the times
of 7 (P = 0.004) and 15 days (P = 0.011), and with 30 days there was statistical
difference between the control group with groups PC2 and PC3 (P = 0.023). For the
granulation tissue, was no significant difference between Groups Control and PC3 in
the times of 7 (P = 0.007), 15 (P = 0.037) and 30 days (P = 0.003). In regarding the
amounts of collagens fibers, there was significant difference between the PC3 group
with groups Control and PR in time period 30 days (P = 0.011). The null hypothesis
was partially accepts. Precedent modified with CPC the 3% was more influential in
inflammatory process, granulation tissue and collagen fibers that concentrations of
1% and 2%.
