Resumo:
In education, the increase on internet utilization has been changing the ways of teaching; since
the technological resources may become allies on solve the student’s difficulties. The aim of
this study was to evaluate the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) as a
complementary tool on Histology teaching on Dentistry courses. It was proceeded a
documental research in all Dentistry courses websites, from North region and Paraiba, to
check whether and how ICT were being to provide histology content. It was observed that
none of the North region courses presented a Histology website and also that some of the
courses don’t even own a webpage. In 2010, it was observed in Paraiba that four courses
websites, but only one of them the ICT were used to provide content. In 2011, it was
performed a new research and two of the five websites found used the ICT to provide
histology content. In North region, only two answers for the questionnaire were received, in
which the professor’s mention to use ICT as complementary tool and that it leads to a discrete
improvement on students learning. In conclusion, the ICT are being poorly used in Dentistry
courses to provide Histology content.
