Abstract:
The work discusses the perspectives of school success and social ascension of students who live in socially vulnerable territories. The research objectives were to identify the main difficulties faced by students in the learning process, to characterize the social vulnerability factors that interfere in student life, as well as to investigate the student's perspectives in relation to social ascension. For that, it was used a field research, of the exploratory type, in a qualitative approach. The research subjects were constituted by the pedagogical coordinator of the school, 01 (one) teacher of the 5th year of Elementary School I, 03 (three) students and 03 (three) mothers of these students. To theoretically reference the research, we used the contributions of authors such as Maciel and Pacheco (2021), Xypas and Zuben (2019), Ximenes (2010), Castro (2009), Cassol (2005), Bourdieu (1998), among others, which approach the theme, highlighting in his studies the possibilities of social ascension of students even living in situations of vulnerability. Thus, it is hoped that the study can bring contributions to the understanding of educational processes in contexts of social vulnerability, because although there are several aspects that interfere with student performance, the school can develop pedagogical actions capable of contributing to overcoming the factors that potentiate low student learning, and at the same time create possibilities for academic success and social advancement.
