Resumen:
The study of the theme "teacher training, identity and the challenges experienced in education" is justified from its social relevance today, and the need to rethink the process of teacher training in educational institutions. The aforementioned monographic study originated from the following question: what is the importance of teacher training in the face of the daily challenges experienced in the exercise of the profession? Thus, the general objective was to discuss the relevance of teacher training in facing the daily challenges, exercise of the profession, in a municipal school located in the city of São João do Rio Peixe-PB, in the year 2022. Our specific objectives were: to reflect on the process of teacher training and the construction of their identities; to characterize the challenges faced in early childhood education throughout the teaching career; and assess the impacts of the challenges on teachers' health. As a theoretical contribution, the work was based on the following authors: Macedo (2018), Macenhan and Tozetto (2015), Tardif and Lessard (2014), Pereira (2014), Maroy (2014), Cunha (2013), Borges ( 2010), Fernandes (2010), Veiga (2008), Pimenta (2006), Ramalho, Nuñez and Gauthier (2004), Nóvoa (2002), Jesus (2000) and Freire (1996;1967;1997). Methodologically, the study was developed from an exploratory field research, with a qualitative approach. initially, a bibliographic survey was carried out in books and articles, with the purpose of knowing what has already been produced and published regarding the subject under study. Subsequently, a semi-structured interview script was elaborated, carried out with five early childhood teachers. After conducting the interviews, the data were analyzed, observing the principles of content analysis in the conception of Bardin (2016), with coding and categorization, applying the Category Analysis Technique. The study confirms that permanent and continuous training is essential, as well as the appreciation of teachers in the exercise of their profession. It also points out the importance of other factors, such as professional and personal recognition and the guarantee of decent wages, so that the teacher does not need to be overloaded, being forced to work in several schools and shifts, to maintain their livelihood. Such issues have been causing other problems, such as lack of time for leisure and interference in their family life, in addition to triggering stress and other chronic diseases.
