The crop intercropping constitutes viable option for family farmers who cultivation grow in small spaces and need to take advantage of all the available area. In this sense, the objective was to evaluate the agronomic viability of the beet intercropping with arugula under different amounts of jitirana plus goat manure. The experiment was conducted in an experimental area belonging to a semi-arid rural federal university, in the period from august to december of 2016. The study area was designed in a randomized block, arranged in a 2 x 4 factorial scheme set up, with three replications. The first factor set up consisted of single crop and intercropping of beet and arugula, and the second was hairy woodrose (Merremia aegyptia L.) added to goat manure in the amounts (0.0, 1.5, 3.0 and 4.5 kg m-2). The following characteristics were assessed in the beetroot: plant height, grenn mass of leaf, commercial productivity of roots and dry mass of roots. The evaluated characteristics for the arugula crop these were plant height, number of leavs plant, green mass, number of bunches and dry mass. The agronomic efficiency of beetroot and arugula in intercropping was was obtained with the addition of 4.5 kg m-2 of organic fertilized incorporated into the soil. The equivalent area ratio was agronomically efficient, with equivalent area ratio (EAR) of 1.85.
