Resumen:
The terracing with tire stripes, implemented on a depredated area, showed,
visually, a good efficiency on soil accumulation. Soil samples were collected on 57
points at depth intervals of 0-30, 30-60 and 60-90cm, along a river that has 6 sequenced
subterranean reservoirs, as well as in testimonies areas (upward and downward from the
BAPUCASA structure) with the objective of evaluate the soil physical-hydrical and
physical-chemic attributes. The results showed the presence of mainly sandy soils. As it
was expected the lowest soil water availability was found during the month of
December (dry period). On April 2005 (rainy period) the areas upward the BAPUCOSA
barramundis had medium soil moisture contents however upward these, the soil water
availability was much higher showing, thus, that the BAPUCOSA constructions
increased the soil water availability for plants.
