Abstract:
One of the applications of PSAI, high impact polystyrene and the manufacture of packaging for frozen products, however, PSAI has a low impact resistance under these conditions of use. The attempt to produce an EVA/PSAI blend aims to reduce or even minimize the problems of resistance to the impact of these packages under the aforementioned conditions. The physical and mechanical properties mainly the melt flow index, VICAT softening point and impact strength of the EVA/PSAI blend were studied. In addition, the influence of the addition of compatibilizing agents was verified, which were obtained via crosslinking, via polymer-polymer chemical reaction, via copolymerization and via graphitization. It was noted through the properties mentioned above that the EVA/PSAI blends present problems of phase segregation and that the use of the mentioned surfactant compatibilizing agents tested so far, did not contribute to significantly minimize the problem, not improving the mechanical properties in this way. of the EVA/PSAI blend.
