Abstract:
This work presents the development of a low cost antenna for
a frequency range considered for UHF (ultra high frequency) RFID readers
applied in the logistics sector of the University Hospital of Piauí. The proposed antenna is made
of recycled aluminum sheets. It consists of two parallel plates (ground plane and
radiator) with an L-shaped plate (stub) between them and four
short-circuit planars for impedance matching and mechanical support. the width
bandwidth is 39.6 MHz and directivity is 3.1 dBi at 915 MHz and were obtained with the aid of
of the CST Microwave Studio software. Experimental results in an anechoic chamber of
a manufactured prototype showed that the antenna achieved the desired performance, with
bandwidth of 38.2 MHz In the end, an application was proposed and the antenna obtained
success in identifying a variety of items labeled with UHF tags for some
distances demonstrating its potential to reduce costs in carrying out the inventory
at the said hospital.
