Resumen:
The main focus of prenatal care is to ensure a safe pregnancy for maternal and child
health. It also portrays the possibilities of risk, helps in the social, medical, and
psychological aspects of the woman, as well as in the preparation for the moment of
delivery. The quality of care is in the act of providing an efficient triage, educational
conducts as forms of prevention, and treatment interventions to restore the health of the
mother and the baby. Thus, the present study aims to evaluate the process of care provided
by health professionals to pregnant women in the municipality of Cuité-PB, through the
analysis of information reported at the time of the survey on care, as well as data present
in the pregnant woman's notebook. The study group was composed of pregnant women
who are assisted in the Basic Health Units in the municipality, aged between 18 and 50
years. The results showed a worrisome coverage of prenatal care, (22.2%; n=8) of
pregnant women presented alterations in anemia tests; (97.2%; n=35) of pregnant women
had urine tests; only (83.3%; n=30) had VDRL tests; only (77.8%; n=28) had HIV tests.
It was found that among the total, only (72.2%; n=26) received request for USG; already
on the vaccination scheme of pregnant women, it was not complete, being represented by
(91.7%; n=33). Thus, in the construction of the present study it was possible to recognize
the need for early initiation in prenatal consultations, along with its influence and impact
on maternal and child health.
