Agriculture is one of the main activities that allowed human beings to remain in fixed places, developing the evolution of societies and making food available in a more accessible way. From the evolution of technologies and population growth, the need to provide larger amounts of food has become increasingly essential, in order to make the farmer develop the environment to provide resources for the plantations. In this scenario, agriculture in the northeast has been going through periods of scarcity of water resources, which may develop changes in agricultural productivity in the region. Starting from this point, the city of Cajazeiras, located in the interior of Paraíba, is a major producer of agricultural food in the region and nationally depending on the product sold, going through these environmental changes in recent years. In this way, there was a need to assess how water and environmental changes affected agricultural production in the region. From the analysis, it is observed that the region is experiencing particular climatic variations for the region, requiring mechanisms and methodologies that can address the agricultural and population needs, while still allowing economic stability. In this way, it is concluded that the region has a large agricultural production in the face of the regional, national and international context, with high productivity of bananas and corn, which focus on private consumption and selling for economic needs, so that one of its main resources, water needs to present appropriate qualities for such development. n this way, the project for the Transposition of the São Francisco River was developed, which seeks to make water available to the regions, from the São Francisco River, which has a large volume of water. Among them is the Engenheiro Ávidos Reservoir, which provides water for human consumption and agriculture. However, the evaluation of this resource is shown to be necessary, based on the evaluation that some of the quality parameters are shown to be out of line according to the legislation and responsible bodies.
