Abstract:
Several plants have been used for generations by traditional medicines for the treatment of
wounds, modern medicine can, from this knowledge, validate these uses and develop herbal
medicines to assist in healing. Thus, this work aimed to investigate the potential use of
medicinal plants in the treatment of wounds, observing the exchange of information between
traditional medicine and scientific study and how this benefits or transforms the treatment of
wounds. For this, a qualitative-quantitative research was carried out to search for articles,
using the databases: Capes Periodicals, Google Scholar, Scielo, ScienceDirect, PubMed. With
the keywords and delimiters: Medicinal Plants, Healing, Wounds and their combinations, in
Portuguese and English, from 2011 to 2021. 10 articles were selected for the construction of
this literature review, of the descriptive type with a qualitative and /or quantitative. Among
the plants discussed in the selected articles, sunflower oil, Helianthus annuus L.; babosa, Aloe
vera; barbatimão, Stryphnodendron adstringens; copaíba oil, Copaifera spp.; calêndula,
Calendula officinalis Linn.; in addition to other species mentioned in popular and traditional
use by herbalists, such as Urtiga Branca (Lamium Album), Babosa (Aloe barbadensis),
Açafrão (Curcuma longa), Cana-do-brejo (Costus spicatus), Camomila (Matricaria recutita)
