Résumé:
The present research aimed to evaluate the growth and development of the biquinho pepper
culture (Capsicum chinese) in different substrates, using the semi-hydroponic system and its
phases (30 and 60 days after transplanting - DAT) as a basis. For this, the experimental units
were distributed in a completely randomized design, using two substrates (S1- washed sand and
S2- coconut fiber), and two phases (F1- 30 DAT and F2-60 DAT) and 6 repetitions each,
totaling 12 experimental units. The variables analyzed were growth and development (leaf
number, stem diameter, plant height, leaf area). It was possible to observe better development
for the S1 treatment, even without obtaining a significant difference between the water use
efficiency parameter. Result indicates that the production of biquinho pepper in the semihydroponic
cultivation system with washed sand as a substrate contributes to an excellent
development of the culture and which will possibly provide greater productive performance.
