Résumé:
The fauna and flora of the Caatinga Biome faces a great water stress in part of the year, and
may present different strategies to get through this period. The survival of adult populations in
areas of evergreen vegetation, as the ciliary forests is one of the possibilities. The present
work aimed to study the seasonal and spatial variation in both environments, in abundance
and richness of lepidopteran butterflies and at the same time evaluate the efficiency of an
unusual method for collecting butterflies for monitoring purposes or population studies. The
material was collected weekly, on Farm anteater, municipio of Santa Teresinha, Paraíba, in
the period from November 2010 to June 2012. 31654 individuals were collected moths and
butterflies 7268 24386. About the butterflies were recorded 49 species belonging to five
families. The results show that the ciliary forest can be used as a contributor in maintaining
populations of adults lepidopteran active during the dry period. It was noted the feasibility in
the use of trap Malaise as a method of monitoring of populations of a part of the Lepidopteran
group.
