Resumo:
The use of plants for medicinal purposes dates back to prehistoric times and is seen
as one of the oldest ways of preventing and treating diseases. This work aims to
assess the level of students' knowledge of medicinal plants, encouraging them to
enhance this knowledge by linking them to topics such as conservation,
environmental education and health. The distinction between knowledge relates to
recognize them to build new thoughts and joints. The survey was conducted with 30
high school students at the State High School and College Dr. Dionisio da Costa,
divided into exact groups of 10 students per class, covering all high school classes.
The study was conducted through a field survey of the quantitative - descriptive type
through a questionnaire with students of both sexes, seeking to assess the
knowledge of each other on the use of medicinal plants. It was found that in spite of
medicinal plants are part of the everyday world of middle school students, the
approach of medicinal plants in the school environment is still insufficient and occurs
only sporadically in biology classes , thus demonstrating that there is a part of the
community school little appreciation of this theme.
