Phrynops geoffroanus is a chelonium widely well distributed in the Neotropical region. However, there are not many researches about this tortoise in free life environments, most of the information are obtained in captivity. The aim was to quantify the variations of some Biochemical blood components of the Phrynops geoffroanus who lead a free life (n = 65), in the semi-arid in the State of Paraíba, Northeast of Brazil. Biochemical parameters have been analyzed: total proteins, uric acid, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase (CK), creatinine, urea, calcium, phosphorus, potassium and chlorine. The total proteins level (3,3452±1,0298 g/dL) and the urea one (54,5476±29,1417 mg/dL) reported significant statistical differences when comparing males and females. When comparing rainy and dry season animals the total proteins, uric acid, aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase (CK), creatinine, urea and phosphorus levels reported significant differences because of the low metabolism which falls down during the hibernation season. The laboratorial analyses have been made at the Laboratório de Patologia Clínica, athe Veterinary Hospital of the Universidade Federal de Campina Grande – CSTR, Patos, PB. It is notable that the serum biochemical parameters are all correct according to the reference values set to the species.
