In the city of Teixeira, State of Paraíba - Brazil, the reality is observed in which
potential areas for ecotourism have been deteriorated by the local development
process. Faced with the reality, it was questioned: Would socioeconomic
disagreement be the main threat of ecotourism in Teixeira - PB? In this context, the
present research has as general objective to make a diagnosis and prognosis of the
main anthropic impacts in ecotourism points of the city of Teixeira-PB as a
contribution of Environmental Education to the improvement of the critical conscience
in relation to the local socioeconomic system. As a result it was verified that
Teixeira's main ecotourism points present strong anthropogenic tensions that
generate highly socialized passive. It was observed that the main modalities of
ecotourism (abseiling, cycling activities, ecological trails, rock climbing, slackeline,
contemplation of landscapes) are developed and registered by tourists and residents
who share their experiences in social networks. It was verified the initiative of local
actors to face socio-environmental adversities through community projects and
actions. Actions with emphasis on replanting native essences, strengthening
landscape projects, building partnerships between the public and private sectors and
NGOs, educational campaigns and the effectiveness of legal instruments were
predicted .The study concluded that the city of Teixeira - PB has ceased to be an
ecotourism attraction point due to the high magnitude of environmental impacts on
green areas. That exists in Teixeira six main ecotourism modality (abseiling, cycling
activities, ecological trails, rock climbing, slackline, Contemplation of landscapes).
That local initiatives are essential to the sustainability of Teixeira - PB. That
prognoses depend on the conviction of society and that they are dependent on an
educational process.
