Résumé:
Hematological profile and analysis of hemoparasites in Phrynops geoffroanus (Schweigger, 1812) tortoises from the semiarid region of Paraíba, Brazil. This present research had as aim to determinate the hematological profile, and the incidence of hemoparasites of the specie Phrynops geoffroanus, who lead a free life in the semi-arid in the State of Paraíba. In this regard, 55 blood samples have been collected, during the period of April 2016 and March 2017, of grown up males and females, which were assessed hematological parameters and the presence of hemoparasites. Average, standard deviation and range of variation have been determinated for all data. Data grouped in the categories: sex (males and females) and period of the year (rainy or dry). The statistical analysis for comparison of the categories was carried out using the t test for independent samples or the Many-whitney test, with 5% of significance. It was noticed 12.7% of incidence of the Hemogregarina spp. Comparing the heterophils, eosinophils, basophils, lymphocytes, and monocytes, parameters, a great diference was noticed (p<0.0001). Comparing the rainy period and the dry one, it was noticed that the totality of the leukocytes parameter, heterophils and eosinophils reported significant differences (p<0.04). The terrapins Phrynops geoffroanus who lead a free life in the Paraiban semi-arid do not have hematological alterations, which suggests a good sanitary profile of the area.
