Aspectos reprodutivos e desenvolvimento de larvário de Physalaemus albifrons (Anura: Leptodactylidae) em áreas da Paraíba, Nordeste do Brasil.

Abstract

The frogs have different reproductive modes, and may include or not the presence of larvae (tadpoles). The work aimed to know the natural history of species Physalaemus albifrons, with emphasis on reproductive aspects and larvário development in water bodies in Caatinga areas on the sertão of Paraíba. The studies were carried out during the rainy season, in environments that have temporary water bodies in the region of Patos and two surrounding municipalities: São Mamede and Maturéia. Egg masses were collected from two locations, to the accompaniment of the tadpoles in the laboratory. The observations (n = 5) ocurr by sporadic surveys to the follow-up of field activity and recording of the calls of the species, in temporary water bodies in the city of Patos-PB. The tadpoles were collected daily, measured by following the main measures of brandings. The stages of development of tadpoles were 25 to 45, resulting in some stages figured and described by following the main structures that appear and disappear throughout the development. The development of tadpoles showed solid and growing, though in a few internships substantially reduce measures in stage 42 to 45 when the tadpole becomes noticeably different from the early stages, reducing your tail and increasing your body.
