Resumo:
The municipality of Bananeiras-PB is located in Brejo Paraibano and has had a sharp growth in the urban area in recent years. The population of Bananeiras has been suffering from a water supply crisis for some years, and new residential condominiums have replaced native vegetation with concrete, which seems to have contributed to altering the city's microclimate. Therefore, the present study aims to identify whether there have been changes in the local climate and whether they are related to deforestation over the years and to analyze the water crisis that occurred in the year 2021. The methodology involved the application of regression analysis and non-parametric statistical tests from Pettitt and Mann-Kendall to the historical series of the municipality, remote sensing was used to determine a possible increase in the deforested area as well as to analyze the volume of the Canafístula II Dam and to investigate the water collapse of the year 2021. In which, it was possible to observe a great temporal variability in vegetation and precipitation, in addition to a trend in the reduction in the amount of precipitation and a sudden change in the historical average of precipitation.
