Abstract:
The construction industry consumes much of the world's drinking water. In general, it is known that this sector has a large employment scale and contributes to the development and growth of a society. This way, its relevance when discussing the management and consumption of natural resources in its environment is undeniable. In Brazil, the traditional building system is predominant, which is highly representative in the excessive volumes of water consumed. On building sites, the critical stages of consumption take place in finishing and foundation services. In this work, we sought to evaluate the use and consumption of water in the construction of two residential works with different constructive characteristics, focusing on their management at the construction sites. For this, constructions located in the municipality of São José do Sabugi-PB were monitored, from May 10 to July 13, 2022, with daily measurements being carried out using a hydrometer. The results showed the need for continuous monitoring and management of water consumption within the sites. It was found that the highest water consumption occurred in the structural execution stage, with a value of 7.56 m³. In addition, this study presents economic, social and technological actions to improve the use and efficiency of this natural resource. For water management to take place effectively, it is necessary to adopt a set of actions, from raising the awareness of individuals to the evolution of the construction process.
