Resumen:
In front of the current technological scenario, the English language has been conquering more and more space among different social environments. Having an extremely important role, not only for communication between people from all around the world, but also for other purposes that meet their needs, this language is used in the most diverse situations and different scenarios, and the school is one of them. About its use in the school environment, it is possible to turn our eyes to the different resources that can be used for the teaching-learning process of students, which are used in a way that considers the knowledge and creativity of young people. In this context, this research presents itself as a bibliographic survey. The main objective here is to understand how the digital genre fanfiction can contribute to the development of writing skills in English from the perspective of critical literacy. Regarding the justification of this research, it lies in the importance of approaching current genres such as fanfiction in the classroom, in a way that it can make a significant contribution to student learning. To carry out this research, we used authors such as: Brasil (2017), Brasil (1998), Bazerman (2016), Ferreira (2020),
Kleiman (2008), Lima (2019), Murakami (2016), Soares (2009), Street (1995) e Vargas (2005). Therefore, we conclude that the digital genre fanfiction can be an ally in English language classes, so that it becomes more engaging and meaningful during the learning process for those who study it.
