Percy Jackson e o ladrão de raios: a voz do tradutor através das estratégias de tradução.

Abstract

The present work proposes to analyze the translation into Brazilian Portuguese of six chapters of the work Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2014), by author Rick Riordan, and to investigate the presence of the narrator's voice from the linguistic strategies used to the resolution of the impasses encountered in the translation process. The research is justified, mainly, due to the insufficiency of studies related to the translation of children's literature, as well as the works of the author under study, because despite this area being growing, it is still little explored in the academy, as a result of the low prestige attributed to it in the literary system. During the translation process, the translator may face several setbacks, such as problems in translation due to dissimilarities between the cultures of the languages in question. So, the translator can leave his discursive presence throughout the translation, based on the strategies he uses to solve such problems. This research is characterized as qualitative, of a bibliographic nature and is supported by the studies of Arrojo (2007); Brito (2012); Campos (1986) and Catford (1965), O'Connell (2006), Shavit (1981), Queiroga (2014) and Lathey (2005). Through the analyzes carried out, it was possible to observe the discursive presence of the translator in the text through the use of the translation strategies discussed in this work, especially with regard to the questions of translation of specific cultural items, which is quite recurrent in the work used as object of study for this research.
