The present work portrays part of the life trajectory of Maria de Jesus, (20/12/1938 - 20/04/202), popularly known as Lilia, owner of Mangueiras, one of the most famous brothels in Cajazeiras-PB, which operated between the years 1960 to 2012.It is about understanding how As Mangueiras contributed to the social and cultural scene of the city, since it is part of the cultural calendar of Cajazeiras, understanding the role of its owner in the construction of its economic and cultural heritage, defining important social relationships for its projection to the point of being nominated to receive the title of citizen of Cajazeirense. The methodology used is based on the epistemological foundations of Oral History, with the purpose of presenting, from the collective and individual memory of the interviewees, a historical look around the life of Maria de Jesus (Lilia) and Mangueiras. As for the theoretical support, we dialogue with the studies of Rago (1990), Engel (2004), Nascimento (2008), Perrot (1995), Albert (2013), among others who supported us in this production about the life of Maria de Jesus, the woman who dedicated a good part of her life to building her condition of owner of a house of prostitution.
