Abstract:
The covid-19 pandemic caused changes in the lifestyle of individuals, since social distancing
was required as one of the preventive measures, thus causing changes in the way of living and
eating behavior of individuals. The objective of this research was to evaluate the eating behavior
of the adult population residing in the municipality of Patos-PB at the time of the pandemic
COVID-19. The study is exploratory, cross-sectional and aimed at adults aged 18 to 59 years.
The research was carried out with 225 volunteers through an online questionnaire, using the
google forms platform, with questions relevant to eating behavior, rescuing sensations and
situations experienced at the time of the pandemic COVID-19. The regularity, frequency and
food groups consumed by the participants were evaluated. Based on the analysis of the data
obtained, it was possible to identify that the period of the pandemic changed the eating habits
and lifestyle of individuals, resulting in changes in body weight, In addition, most participants
are not aware of the Food Guide for the Brazilian Population, which is so important because it
contains information and guidelines on a healthy and balanced diet that prevent the emergence
of non-communicable chronic diseases. It is necessary to develop appropriate strategies using
public policies to promote healthy eating habits so that individuals can, at any time, make good
food choices and thus bring health benefits.
