Resumen:
Watersheds have been suffering constant environmental degradation, depending on human activities, which occur with less or greater intensity, including inadequate irrigation and drainage management, use of agrochemicals, lack of riparian vegetation and erosion of river banks, are processes that reduce both the quality and quantity of water bodies. Thus, it is essential to monitor these basins using different tools so that integrated monitoring can be carried out. The general objective of this work was to evaluate the water quality in the Alto Piranhas Hydrographic Sub-dasin, upstream from the São Gonçalo reservoir, Sousa-PB to the downstream of the Piranhas-Açu River, im Pombal-PB, through the indicator parameters of water quality, such as pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity and dissolved oxygen. The work took place on the upper course of the Piranhas River, between the municipalities of Sousa, Apareceida and Pombal, in the interior of Paraibano, where the water samples were collected. According to the turbidity levels and the necessary potability indices, it was found that the highest turbidity values occurred in the month of Jun/22, the analysis obtained values between
11.57 NTU and 16.21 NTU and observed there was a reduction in water turbidity in the month of Jul/22 with values from 3.2 NTU to 7.8 NTU. Therefore, the water quality is within the parameters analyzed and determined by CONAMA Resolution 357/2005, that is, the water is of good quality not only for irrigation, but also for human consumption.
