Considering that the level of degradation of the highways directly influences the quality of mobility and the safety of users, the functional evaluation of flexible pavements was studied, considering three sections belonging to the highways that cross the municipality of Princesa Isabel-PB, which are, BR-426 and PB-306. The objective of this work was to analyze the surface of these stretches, aiming at the identification and quantification of defects, as well as conceptualizing the state of conservation of the roads through two methodologies: Continuous Visual Survey (CVS) and Global Severity Index (GSI). Through the execution of these procedures, the Flexible Pavement Condition Index (FPCI), Expedito Global Severity Index (EGSI), Pavement Surface Condition Index (PSCI), and Global Severity Index (GSI) were determined. Finally, a comparative analysis was developed between the applied methods, where the state of conservation of the highways in the referred sections was attested. Considering the concepts “very bad” and “bad”, the results showed that there was the convergence of the methods performed in two-thirds of the analyzed sections, with, therefore, divergence in only one segment. For the PB-306 segment, classified as “very bad” by both methods, intervention in the considered sections is recommended. As for the coincident stretch BR-426/PB306, classified as "bad"' by both methods, it is suggested to carry out maintenance in localized areas, in order to make corrections of potholes, as well as other longitudinal and transverse irregularities found in the surface. Finally, the BR-426 segment was considered “good” by the CVS and as regular by the GSI, requiring only some corrections at specific points of the road.
