Resumen:
Factors are associated with a high incidence of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and obesity in
the world population, among them, a diet and a change in eating habits. One of the changes in
adjustments to functional foods, which relate to metabolism and bioactives, help to improve
processes and economy adjustments. In this sense, flaxseed, and its ingredients, alpha-linolenic
acid, fibers and lignans, with functions beyond the basic movement, and various nutritional
bioactive components, stand out as an option for a healthier diet. This work presents the benefits
promoted by flax flour for the prevention and treatment of diabetes, hypertension and obesity,
a literature review. This is an integrative literature review, carried out through the portal,
CAPES journals for selection of publications in the databases, March SciELO and Google
Scholar, considering the time period of the last 09 years, research of the last 09 years and
research between the months of February and; classifying as an exception the paid articles, with
unavailable full text and that do not respond to the research objectives. In the present study, 601
articles were found, with a sample composed of 15 studies, comprising 03 (SciELO) and 12
(Academic). The following tensions were performed: 2) The following was obtained: 3)
Nutrition 4) Hypertension 4) Diabetes Mellitus 5) Flaxseed. It appears that alpha-linolenic acid,
glucose in flaxseed modulation of physiological functions allows the modulation of homeostatic
balance, as it stimulates the production of immunological, anti-inflammatory and absorption
delaying factors. As antioxidants they promote the reduction of flaxseed properties of risks by
preventing arrhythmias, vascular hyperplasia and reducing the properties of flaxseed. Among
the main benefits of its consumption in the treatment and prevention of chronic diseases, the
role of fibers in reducing risks, weight loss, increased insulin resistance and improved intestinal
transit is highlighted. Therefore, flaxseed provides, through a balanced diet, improvement of
physiological functions at systemic levels, beneficial for the prevention and treatment of
obesity, arterial hypertension and diabetes.
