Resumo:
This study aims to investigate the constitution of woman figure in forró lyrics and the
reading of normalists regarding these songs. Therefore, the study was based on the
theoretical perspective of reading presented by the Discourse Analysis (DA) of French
line, from Authors like Pêcheux (1997), Robin (1977) and Courtine (2006). It also resorted
to Foucault ideas, especially regarding the concepts of “Wills of truth” and “Relations of
power” and the Cultural Studies, by Hall (2006), Bauman (2005) and Silva (2000), to
understand the questions related to identity constructions. The structure of this research is
based on forró lyrics and reading activities done by students involving the lyrics. That
been said, this research is, in the first stage, documental, and, in the second stage, a
research-action, since it intended, based on a theoretical referential, perform an
intervention with a third-year class of High School at Escola Normal in Campina Grande.
Hence, the following objectives were set up: to identify the wills of truth related to the
woman subject in the forró lyrics; to compare the female image expressed in the root forró
lyrics and in the electronic forró lyrics; to consider the thought of the normalists regarding
the speeches which constitute the woman figure in the lyrics in question and to compare
the reading done by the normalists before and after the proposal of intervention performed
by the research. Based on the data, it was possible to realize that, in the first stage, the
female figure is constituted as an object of sexual pleasure in both kinds of forró.
However, in the root forró, women are considered creatures destined for wedding, for
family life, as a trophy to be won by men. On the other hand, in the electronic forró,
women are considered easy sexual objects to be used and discarded. This study also
allowed the identification of stereotypes that depreciate the identity of the female figure in
society. In the second stage, the conclusion is that there is identification in the student
readings with the form-figure presented in the lyrics from the previous stage, related to the
discursive construction of the woman identity. Also, it was observed that, at first, the
reading of the normalists was based on narrative abstracts in relation to decoded
materiality, without existing a critical positioning. After the research intervention, it was
noticed that the students give more attention to the construction of images and roles
designed to the woman in the lyrics and, as a result, showed critical attitudes about this
discursive genre.
