Resumo:
Classical Western literature has Greece as its fundamental reference, especially in the Homeric epics. From this perspective, the present research was developed, whose general objective is to analyze the figure of the epic through the Homeric epics. To achieve these objectives, we list as specific objectives to study the main characteristics of the Homeric epics; to present, from the adaptation of Virgil's Aeneid, references to Homeric epics; propose a didactic sequence for the 2nd year of high school. In this way, studying literature is important, since understanding our culture is fundamental, for example, as the poet Virgil used the Homeric epics to praise the foundation of Rome. The research is anchored in the theoretical contributions that were essential for the elaboration of this work, namely Kothe (1987) that deals with the classic heroes; Staiger (1975) who emphasizes epic poetry, which had great heroic deeds as a form of dissemination; Calvino (1993), which demonstrates to us the true purpose of classical studies, epic and the excellence and grammar of knowledge for our formation as readers and citizens; Mafra (2010) will explain about the two great epics of Greek literature, Homer's Iliad and Odyssey, which are the crystallization of songs in order to add them even more; and finally, Virgílio's Aeneid in the translations of Carlos Alberto Nunes (2016) and Tassilo Orpheu Spalding (1999), both with their own characteristics, while Nunes's (2016) follows the cantos in verses, Spalding's (1999) in prose, and put an end to the adaptation of Miécio Táti's Aeneid (1998) also in prose. As for the type of research, it is exploratory-descriptive and/or explanatory, because an analysis of the adapted work will be carried out. And finally, as a result of this research, a Didactic Sequence was produced so that future teachers and/or university students can use it as a tool to encourage the reading of classic works.
