The teaching of literature is predominantly formed based on works and authors of canonical culture, which in many cases causes the exclusion of reading by black female authors in the classroom. In view of this, it is essential to reflect on educational practices that favor the contact of students with literary texts that dialogue about black representation, in order to provide the formation of critical readers. In this sense, this work has the general objective: to contribute to the practice of literary literacy through the short stories Olhos d’água and Maria by the Brazilian author Conceição Evaristo, in classes of the 2nd grade of high school. As specific objectives we list: to present the importance of literary literacy for the formation of readers; discuss about the representation of black women in literature and create a reading circle with the stories Olhos d’água and Maria, in classes of the 2nd grade of high school. The methodology used was bibliographic research, of an applied nature and qualitative approach. The theoretical is guided essentially based on the theoretical contributions of Cosson (2020), Candido (2011), Evaristo (2016), Cuti (2010), Gonzalez (2020), Lugones (2014) among others. As a result, we propose a reading circle according to the Cossonian model aimed at the 2nd grade of high school. Such a proposal becomes relevant for the realization of literary literacy and for the formation of critical readers, in addition to favoring the visibility and recognition of black female literature in the educational context.
