Resumo:
This dissertation presents a literary reading activity related to performance and its encouragement in schools through the work Vidas secas, by Graciliano Ramos. The objective is to investigate the formation of the literary reader from concepts by Hans Robert Jauss’s Aesthetic of Reception, by Wolfgang Iser’s Aesthetic Effect and by Paul Zumthor’s performance notion. Thus, an action research was carried out with High School graders in their 3rd year of a public school in Igaci-AL, through a workshop titled "Vidas secas e seus horizontes". The theoretical foundation of this work is grounded in Jauss's (1994), Iser’s (1979) and Eco’s (2012) ideas regarding the reader's reception in textual plots and Zumthor’s (2007) and Kefalas’s (2012) ideas regarding the concept of performance. Chartier (2002), Kleiman (2002), Larrosa (2007) and Langlade (2013) were used to deal with the reader in education situation whereas Candido (2006), Brunacci (2008), Carpeaux (1987) and Bosi (1992) were used regarding the novel itself, as well as its functions and critical analysis of the work in evidence. As a consequence of the path the students have trodden to construct meaning in the work studied by turning back to the text to prove and/or disprove interpretations, the results show the proposed interaction between the literary text and the readers was significant to their formation. Therefore, this practice can make them to awaken in order to read in a more attentive and pleasant way, also experiencing an aesthetic and ideological experience of Vidas secas.
